การใช้ There is/There are (back to basics)

There is/There are แปลว่า มี

บางที่เราก็เขียนย่อๆ ว่า There’s หรือ There’re

There is an apple on the table.

There are some apples on the table.

จากการที่เรารู้มาว่า Verb to be ประกอบไปด้วย is/am/are  was/were  been

ดังนั้น รูปแบบอื่นๆ ของ there is/there are เช่น there was/ there were/ there has been/ there have been ล้วนแปลว่า มี

There were five people at my house yesterday. (มี ความหมายในอดีต)

There have been so many people in the shop since this morning. (มี ในช่วงระยะเวลา ตั้งแต่อดีตถึงปัจจุบัน)

There will be a party at John’s house next month. (มี ในอนาคต)

There will be no force (จะไม่มีการใช้กำลัง)

ส่วนใหญ่นักเรียนมักจะใช้ Has หรือ Have ที่แปลว่า มี ซึ่งมักจะใช้กันผิดๆ
